 The Mtwara Community Economic Empowerment Venture (MCEEV) is a joint initiative between the Wentworth Africa Foundation and Scanagri Tanzania (a subsidiary of Scanagri Finland). The vision is to help people create sustainable and profitable businesses and non-profit organizations of their own. The Community Centers play a central role in the development of rural communities, providing a foundation for better education, communications and business training, support services, local access to information, and financing/loans for small business development.
By supporting business, the community centers will generate and support cottage industries, improving economic growth and creating new livelihoods. By offering reasonable rents, a community dimension and professional management, the community business centers facilitate the co-location of supporting business such as cooperative banking and micro-finance organizations; telephone and internet services and others.
