 Supporting East Africans with grants and loans is another way that the Wentworth Africa Foundation helps grow vibrant communities. Based on a microfinance model, AAF loans funds to income generating projects (businesses) and grants funds to non-income generating projects (non-profit groups) through the Enterprise Development Program.
The Enterprise Development Program (EDP) is accessible to all
organizations and individuals based in the Mtwara and Lindi
regions. The
EDP is funded by AAF and managed by a Steering Committee. The
Steering Committee meets semi-annually (March and September) to
review all applications and determine which applicants are most
suitable for EDP funding. The Steering Committee is comprised of
three AAF representatives and a regional Government
representative (Lindi & Mtwara).
Applicants are chosen with preference for those projects focusing on the following:
• Access to electricity
• Collaborative business start-ups
• Education and training
We believe that by supporting entrepreneurs with start-up loans and grants we are creating sustainable change. In some villages, AAF community business resource centres are also benefiting new business owners by providing retail space for reasonable rents.
To apply for an Enterprise Development Program grant or loan, candidates may fill out one of the applications attached and submit to one of the following offices:

Wentworth Africa Foundation (AAF) aims to contribute to the
lives of Tanzanians by supporting groups and individuals
who aspire to create income generating projects and
non-income generating projects. For anyone who requires
support for non-income generating projects (e.g. school
sponsorship, awareness programs, orphan care programs)
please apply to our grant program. For anyone who requires
support for an income generating project (e.g. to start a
business) please apply to our loan program.
