Although Tanzania has a stable government and a wealth of natural resources (minerals, natural gas, tourism, fishing, forestry, etc.), there still exists a great need for development projects from foundations like AAF. Consider that:

  • Only 49 per cent of those living in rural communities have access to clean drinking water
  • Although malaria is a huge problem, only 16 per cent of children under the age of five sleep under a treated mosquito net
  • 40 per cent of Tanzanians are unable to meet their basic daily needs
  • Many children in Tanzania do not finish school and instead work in agriculture and fishing
  • An estimated 7 per cent of the population is infected with HIV/AIDS
